In EOL3, the homepage has been dramatically redesigned to be less cluttered and more welcoming. It resembles a search engine homepage, which is kind of the whole point: the EOL3 homepage is your gateway to knowledge about biodiversity.

Species Page

Species pages in EOL3 are cleaner, simpler, and easier to read. They focus on the gorgeous pictures and essential information. References, repartition map, photos, are all on a single page. EOL3 is highly visual, which is how any modern encyclopedia of life should be.

Black/White interface

Pictures on a white background fit seamlessly into EOL3's clean white interface. Some pictures, however, are set on black backgrounds. So why not change the interface to fit the pictures you're looking at? With EOL3 you can do just that. Anywhere in EOL3, whenever you want, you can click on the “interface switch” and switch from a white to a black background.

Collaboration

Adding information to EOL3 is super simple. A new reference, an inaccurate repartition map you want to change? You just have to click the Modify button, and fill the form-like sheet. Changes are curated by the community and by bots to prevent vandalism.
