EOL3's goal is to make taxonomists' job easier. By giving them the information they need, from references to virtual specimens for identifications, they can discover and describe new species faster. Estimates put the total number of species on Earth at at least 10 million, of which we've only discovered 2 million. Countless species remain to be discovered - and many of them go extinct before they have a chance to be inventoried -. EOL3 wants to become the reference taxonomists use to identify and describe new species.
